Grand River Museum Program Presented by Main Street Chillicothe
C-T 10 10 16

The Grand River Historical Society held its quarterly meeting which is open to the public at the Elks Lodge on Tuesday, October 11, with dinner at 6:30 and the program at 7:30 p.m. The program was presented by Micah Landes, director of Main Street Chillicothe, and Ben White, assistant director. They provided a review of the history of Main Street Chillicothe and their activities to improve the downtown area for the past 15 years. Currently, one of the important interests of the organization is preservation of existing buildings. Chillicothe has lost a number of buildings of historic value over the years, and Main Street Chillicothe is currently working with city officials to pass ordinances to preserve buildings in the two downtown Historic Districts - the Courthouse Square District and the Commercial District. The Main Street Chillicothe officials covered the amount of downtown investment, number of employees, new businesses and the dramatic drop in vacancy over the past 15 years. The dinner consisted of fish and chicken strips prepared by Jeff Frampton at a cost of $10.
